TO MAKE THE BEST USE OF BESTGRIP STUDS PLEASE FOLLOW CAREFULLY THE ADVICE BELOW
(ESPECIALLY WHEN USED IN COMPETITION)

Do not use tyres with a very soft rubber compound since these will not retain the studs properly. Do not remove any existing studs already mounted into the traditional tyres, but supplement them with additional BESTGRIP’s studs. You can put the stud in the premoulded hole (designed for the conventional studs above) or between the slots, but the optimal situation in every condition is done by mounting the stud to full depth, in this way, it isn’t necessary to use glues.

ALWAYS: After installing the studs run in for a few miles using a very moderate speed, then check the security of the studs and retighten if necessary. In competition conditions check them every 30 km and in road conditions at least every 1.000 Km

INSTRUCTIONS TO GLUE STUDS OPTIONAL REQUIRED ONLY FOR COMPETITION

  1. Drill a hole as depth as the penetration length of the stud. Use a sharpen drill bit of 2.00-3.00mm smaller than the diameter of the stud’s thread (e.g. Diameter of the stud’s thread = 9.00mm, Diameter of the drill bit = 6.00-7.00mm diameter).
  2. The hole should be perfectly round and visible and a clear circumference.
  3. Soak the studs in acetone for a few minutes, then lay them on a paper towel to allow the acetone to evaporate.
  4. Fill the hole with glue, making sure to fill in to the end. Insert the stud in the correct position without interruption and let it dry at a minimum temperature of 16° Celsius for at least 48 hours.

ALWAYS: Run in a few miles with the tyres just mounted using a very moderate speed , then check the status of the nails and register if necessary (if you have moved or if have not glued). Control them in sport at least every 30 km. All the nails BESTGRIP are covered with a black substance through a special treatment designed to improve the adherence of the stud to the rubber of the tyre.

Bestgrip recommends the cyanocrilated glues: Loctite 435, Loxeal 14, Loxeal 25.

NOTE!

When carring out the above procedure, comply to the safety rules of the products used, e.g.:

  • Protect your eyes
  • Wear gloves
  • Wear a facemask

Anti-puncture liquid

If you need to use the studded tyres for long, we recommend to insert the studs deeper and clasp the tyre chassis – in this way the studs will stay into the tyres. To prevent the risk of tyres puncture, we suggest to insert the anti-puncture liquid.

Warning: if studded as described above, tyre life is very short.

There are plenty of different types of anti-puncture liquid, from different brands. We advise to use a gel-based liquid that will not ruin or stain tyres and rims. Moreover, if you need to remove the liquid, it can be washed away with water. Bestgrip recommend:
